Jewish Rashkov

It was built around the same time as the synagogue. At that time Orthodox, Catholics and Jews lived quite peacefully here. And in Rashkov you can see “hobbit holes” - in local slang “heads”. These are rock-cut dwellings with semicircular vaults that are reminiscent of the Shire settlement from The Lord of the Rings. Once upon a time, entire families lived in them. In winter, it was much easier to heat such a “hole” than an ordinary house, and in summer it gave coolness.
